How to Crop PDF Pages

PDF documents often contain excessive margins, white space, or unwanted border areas that waste space and make content appear smaller than necessary. Cropping these margins gives your document a cleaner, more professional appearance and makes better use of the available page space. Our PDF cropper allows you to specify an exact margin size in points (where 72 points equals 1 inch) and removes that margin uniformly from all pages. This is particularly useful for scanned documents with large borders, presentations that need tighter formatting, and any PDF where excess whitespace is distracting.

What are points in PDF measurements?

Points are the standard unit of measurement in PDF documents. One point equals 1/72 of an inch (approximately 0.35mm). So 72 points = 1 inch, 36 points = 0.5 inch, and 28.35 points = 1 centimeter. This is the same unit used by most PDF editing software.

Can I crop different margins on different sides?

Currently, the tool applies the same margin value to all four sides of each page. If you need asymmetric cropping, you would need to crop with the smaller margin value and then use a PDF editor to adjust individual sides manually.

Is there a way to preview the crop before downloading?

The tool applies the crop and generates the output PDF directly. We recommend starting with a smaller crop value if you are unsure, and running the tool again with a larger value if needed. Your original PDF is never modified, so you can always try different settings.
